What Will You Be Doing?
As the Society Financial Control Senior Specialist, you will support the Senior Lead in the delivery of key aspects of our financial reporting processes. You will have the opportunity to:
* Deliver key aspects of the half-year and full-year statutory reporting processes, including the month-end close reporting process through liaison with key internal stakeholders.
* Support the documentation, implementation, and maintenance of the financial control framework with the Society Financial Reporting and Control team.
* Drive efficiency and effectiveness of the function by supporting best practice.
* Oversee the day-to-day workloads of the Society Financial Control Specialists.
* Maintain industry knowledge and external networks to inform accounting interpretations and application, ensuring assurance is relevant and contextual.
* Develop technical expertise and regulatory awareness to ensure compliance, supporting good customer outcomes and fair value through informed financial reporting and assurance.
* Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) with demonstrable post-qualification experience.
* Strong knowledge of statutory reporting, technical accounting, particularly IFRS9, with the desire and ability to be the SME in these areas.
* Experience of operating in a similar role. Financial Services experience is beneficial but not essential.
* Proficient in finance systems; Workday experience is advantageous.
* Able to develop and maintain effective working relationships within the team and across the Society.
* Strong commercial acumen with the ability to link operational activity to financial outcomes.
* Strong communicator, able to explain complex accounting matters clearly and concisely.
* Adaptable and proactive, with a drive to support change and deliver excellent outcomes.
