Special Needs Teaching Assistant

Salary: £85 - £110 per day

GSL Education are seeking compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to work at our Client Secondary school for young people with additional needs in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, starting as soon as possible.
About the School:
* With an emphasis on SEN children, this school is for secondary aged students, aged from 11 - 19 years which aims to provide SEN students and staff with exceptional standards of care and education.
* Every student at the School has a learning disability, and some of them also require extra special education services due to physical or sensory needs.
* The school provides its students with a customized, individualized curriculum that is in line with their needs and goals and closely related to the outcomes listed in each child's Education, Health, and Care Plan.
* The school's comprehensive curriculum provides teachers with a list of options of accessible and relevant topics to help students develop what is relevant to them and their identified EHCP broad areas of need.
* The curriculums at the school have been created after four years of intensive research into SEND as well as visits, research, and interactions with exceptional settings.
* One of the main goals of the school is to prepare students for adulthood.
Special Needs Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
* Support learning activities under the guidance and supervision of the teacher, adapting and differentiating the curriculum to meet the individual needs of students with special educational needs.
* Design and evaluate specialised learning activities.
* Encourage students to collaborate and communicate with one another.
* Contribute to the planning, organisation, and implementation of individual development plans for students.
* As students are learning, keep an eye on their behaviour and conduct and take action to address any complex, hard, or challenging issues.
Special Needs Teaching Assistant Requirements:
* Must hold the Right to Work in the UK.
* Relevant educational or SEN-related qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
* Training in behaviour management and de-escalation techniques is advantageous.
* Experience working with children who have a variety of disabilities and/or learning difficulties, or an eagerness to go through training.
* Awareness and understanding of various additional needs such as ASC, ADHD, MLD, and SEMH.
* Confident in the delivery of pre-planned lessons and interventions.
* Hold a Child only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
