This is an hourly paid role working the 7-day fortnight pattern. 5 days one week, 2 days second week £13.50p/h – shift premiums for weekend working (Saturday x1.5, Sunday x2.0) Job Purpose: To ensure the smooth and efficient operation of machinery involved in production. Responsible for monitoring, operating, and maintaining production equipment to ensure product quality, consistency, and adherence to safety and hygiene standards. Key Responsibilities: Machine Operation Set up, operate, and monitor production machinery (e.g. mixers, Cooling towers, packaging lines). Adjust machine settings according to product specifications and batch requirements via PLC and manual controls. Perform regular checks to ensure machines are running efficiently and safely, optimise yields & performance. Quality Control: Monitor the texture, temperature, appearance and consistency of product during processing. Collect samples for lab testing to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards Report any inconsistencies or faults to the Production Manager. Record batch information and production data accurately. Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Carry out routine cleaning. Assist in troubleshooting mechanical / packaging issues and liaise with the maintenance team and production managers when required. Ensure all equipment is operating in line with health and safety and food hygiene regulations. Hygiene & Safety: Follow strict hygiene and cleanliness protocols in line with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, BRC, GMP). Wear appropriate PPE and ensure machinery is cleaned and sanitized as per schedule. Adhere to all workplace health and safety guidelines. Teamwork & Communication: Work collaboratively with other production team members and departments (e.g. break cover, materials in and out). Attend shift briefings and provide feedback on machine performance and any issues. Assist in training new staff or temporary workers when required. Share good practice. Requirements: Essential: * Understanding of industrial machinery. * Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely. * Awareness of food safety standards and good manufacturing practices (GMP). * Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment. Desirable: * Previous experience in a food manufacturing. * Knowledge of HACCP and other food safety systems. Working Conditions: * Shift work, including weekends flexibility. * Ambient production environment. * Standing for long periods, manual handling.
