Overview

Job Title: Practice Consultant – Social Worker 8844 | Permanent contract | £43,822 to £48,227 per annum (Scale K) | 37 hours per week | Julian Hospital, Norwich

We offer a £2000 welcome payment for qualified and experienced Social Workers/Occupational Therapists (grade J and above), Practice Consultants and Team Managers new to Norfolk County Council. The amount is repayable in full if you leave within two years of employment.

Who Cares? We do.

Are you a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England (SWE) looking to make a positive difference to those living in Norfolk? If so, joining us in Adult Social Services could be the right move for you. You can find out more about us here.

You will be based in Julian Hospital in Norwich, which is for adults in later life (65+). The setting consists of five wards divided into organic (Dementia) and functional (Bi-Polar/Schizophrenia etc.) mental health groups. We generally have a social worker aligned to each ward, giving opportunity for social workers to support from the moment of admission until discharge and review.

As a Practice Consultant in this small friendly team, you will be part of a larger multi-disciplinary team, which aims to promote the wellbeing of those in later life, living with mental health. This is a great opportunity for a social worker to develop managerial skills and further develop specialist knowledge and skills in older persons mental health.

We take a living well approach in Norfolk which means supporting people in the context of their own families, communities and circle of support; empowering people to remain independent for longer.

What We Offer

At Norfolk County Council we are committed to our employees’ learning and development. We offer all Social Workers and Occupational Therapists a protected half day per month for continuing professional development and training.

We want our people to be inspired and motivated to work well together, make the most of our workspaces, enjoy a healthy work-life balance, and deliver excellent services to Norfolk and its people. Flexibility is built into the way we work, with hybrid working a key feature for many roles. Our technology platform and equipment are first class, enabling you to connect and collaborate remotely. We ask that you have in place good broadband connectivity. There is an exception that social workers are asked to attend face to face multidisciplinary and discharge meetings twice a week; as well as any Section 117 reviews and mental health tribunals.

We operate a talent pool scheme whereby candidates who are not successful on this occasion may be considered for a period of up to 3 months for equal positions.

You can also find out about the rewards and benefits we offer as well as our other terms and conditions.
