Planning Lawyer (local authority), London
Service Care Solutions is seeking an experienced and motivated Planning Lawyer Locum to join a well-regarded local authority legal team in North London. This role offers flexibility with attendance at the office one day per week, with the remaining work conducted remotely.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide legal advice on planning, highways, and local government matters (contentious and non-contentious).
* Draft and negotiate agreements such as Section 106, unilateral undertakings, and highways agreements.
* Attend Planning Committee meetings, offering legal guidance and representation.
* Review and draft reports on legal implications of decisions.
* Manage contentious planning matters, including appeals and judicial reviews.
* Participate in project meetings for major developments, liaising with stakeholders.
* Instruct and brief external legal counsel when necessary.
* Stay updated on legal developments and provide training or updates to stakeholders.
* Ensure effective use of case management systems and compliance with standards.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives (England & Wales).
* At least 3 years' post-qualification experience in relevant law areas.
* Strong knowledge of planning law, highways law, road traffic regulations, and local government law.
* Experience in drafting and negotiating planning and highways agreements.
* Ability to advise on planning and related legal issues.
* Experience handling contentious matters, including appeals and judicial reviews.
