We are seeking a Control Operator to work in our busy Lifeline office. Lifeline is a support service for the elderly and vulnerable tenants and residents of Charnwood Borough Council. Controllers are alerted to customers’ needs by the activation of a pendant or pullcord which sends an alert to the Lifeline monitoring center. The controller is required to ask questions to assess the nature of the emergency and decide on the action to be taken.
Actions may include calling emergency services, contacting medical professionals, or reaching out to family or carers.
Full training will be provided for the successful candidate.
This service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You will work an average of 24 hours per week, with shift work including night, evening, afternoon, and morning shifts. Shifts will include weekends and bank holidays as per the rota. Some shifts may require lone working. Out of hours, you will respond to emergency repair requests from tenants in the borough.
The ideal candidate must remain calm and confident in various situations, always polite and courteous, and able to work independently.
You should be a clear, confident communicator capable of responding in a manner that fosters trust in our service.
Candidates should have knowledge of handling sensitive personal information in line with Data Protection regulations.
You will be required to cover for colleagues’ sickness and holidays, for which overtime pay will be provided.
