Job summary

The Clinical Vaccinator will provide expert clinicalleadership and delivery of immunisation services across community settings inWorcestershire. The role involves autonomous assessment, clinicaldecision-making, and administration of vaccinations to adults and children,ensuring safe, effective, and evidence-based practice.

The post holder will act as a clinical resource within the award-winningYour Health roving outreach team, working in a variety of in- and outdoorcommunity settings alongside junior staff and primary and community/voluntarycare colleagues, contributing to quality improvement, and maintainingcompliance with national immunisation standards and local protocols.

This is a field base role across different community locations throughout Worcestershire. Up to 45 hours per week will be available but consideration of full time and part time candidates will be made.

The successful candidate must be able to start by 1st October 2025 at the latest.

Main duties of the job

Key Areas of Responsibility
* Clinical Delivery
o Independently assess patients for suitability for vaccination, including identification of contraindications, allergies, and risk factors.

o Administer a full range of vaccinations (routine, seasonal, outbreak response) in line with PGDs, National Protocols, and service SOPs.

o Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and training to Band 35 staff and students, ensuring safe practice and skill development.

o Act as a clinical lead during community immunisation sessions, ensuring safe set-up, oversight, and governance.

o Manage clinical emergencies (e.g. anaphylaxis), including administration of emergency medicines and escalation to urgent/emergency care services.

Key Areas of Responsibility
* Clinical Delivery
o Independently assess patients for suitability for vaccination, including identification of contraindications, allergies, and risk factors.

o Administer a full range of vaccinations - routine, seasonal, outbreak response - in line with PGDs, National Protocols, and service SOPs.

o Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and training to Band 35 staff and students, ensuring safe practice and skill development.

o Act as a clinical lead during community immunisation sessions, ensuring safe set-up, oversight, and governance.

o Manage clinical emergencies - e.g. anaphylaxis, including administration of emergency medicines and escalation to urgent/emergency care services.
* Clinical Governance & Quality
o Ensure robust consent processes, adapting communication for patients with additional needs.

o Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records on EMIS/RAVS at the point of care.

o Undertake fridge temperature monitoring, cold chain compliance, and ensure safe handling/storage of vaccines.

o Participate in incident reporting, audit, and quality improvement projects to maintain CQC compliance and high standards of care.

o Ensure infection prevention and control standards are upheld, including correct PPE use, clinical waste disposal, and surface decontamination.
* Service Development & Leadership
o Support the Team Leader in planning and coordinating vaccination sessions, including staffing, stock management, and logistics.

o Contribute to the development of local vaccination pathways, protocols, and training materials.

o Act as a role model for compassionate, patient-centred care, promoting health improvement and making every contact count.

o Provide clinical leadership during outbreak responses, supporting rapid mobilisation of the vaccination service.

o Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams, GP practices, public health, and community partners to ensure integrated service delivery.

Communication & Relationships

Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and professionals regarding complex health matters, including vaccine benefits, risks, and potential side effects.

Provide advice and support to less experienced staff, ensuring a culture of safety, learning, and accountability.

Represent the Your Health team at multi-agency meetings where required.

Behaviour / Ways of Working

Work autonomously while maintaining accountability within scope of professional practice (NMC/HCPC registration required).

Manage and prioritise workload, balancing clinical delivery with leadership responsibilities.

Demonstrate advanced decision-making and problem-solving skills, particularly in urgent situations.

Research, Audit & Development

Lead or contribute to audits of vaccination uptake, patient experience, and clinical outcomes.
