About The Role
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Fire Safety Officer to join our team at a well-established housing association based in Derby. This role is available due to the upcoming retirement of the current Fire Safety Officer, who will support the transition. You will be the subject matter expert for fire safety across the association, conducting fire risk assessments, supporting tenants and vulnerable residents during home reviews, and managing fire safety in high-rise buildings.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fire Risk Assessment and Compliance: Conduct regular fire risk assessments to ensure compliance with legislation, codes of practice, and internal policies.
2. Fire Prevention and Safety Planning: Develop, implement, and review fire safety strategies, policies, and evacuation plans. Provide expert advice to embed fire safety in all building operations.
3. Inspection, Maintenance, and Incident Response: Monitor fire safety equipment and systems, respond to incidents, and conduct investigations to identify root causes and improvements.
Person Specification
* Strong fire safety background
* Hands-on experience managing fire safety is beneficial for learning from the current officer
* Extensive experience in fire risk assessments across various buildings
* Supportive and people-focused, especially when dealing with vulnerable individuals
* Holding the NEBOSH Fire Certificate or equivalent is advantageous
* Membership of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers is highly beneficial
