Due to retirement, we currently have an exciting opportunity for the right individual to provide Senior Charge Midwife Leadership within our Midwife Led unit. Please note, the post is rotational.
NHS Fife maternity is a modern, thriving, and progressive unit with approximately 3,000 births per year. The services include outpatient and community services, as well as multifaceted inpatient services, including a complex care Consultant Unit and an alongside Midwife Led Unit.
We also have our own Planned Caesarean Section team and a separate Induction of Labour Suite.
Last year, our maternity Assessment unit provided over 17,000 triage phone assessments and more than 7,000 face-to-face consultations.
We have an increasing number of Maternity Care assistants who are invaluable to our service.
Our maternity ward is a 13-bedded area catering to ante and postnatal women, and provides Stage 1 National Transitional Care. The ward has a multifaceted team of midwives, nursery nurses, maternity care assistants, and a wider multidisciplinary team.
We are a fast-paced, thriving unit seeking a motivated, experienced midwife to assist, lead, nurture, and develop our service. The role involves providing high-level training and education to support staff in meeting the changing needs of pregnant women and families. We need someone with the knowledge and capabilities to guide and support our staff to maintain their skills. We are looking for an individual with the skills and passion to lead a low-risk Midwifery Led unit, adapting and developing to meet the needs of our population.
The ideal candidate will have exceptional organisational and people management skills.
You will work closely with all grades of medical staff, collaborate on reviewing and writing departmental guidelines, and keep accurate records of staff training.
We encourage professional development through our successful in-house leadership programme and external networking opportunities.
Our culture and values are driven by our leadership. Our Head of Midwifery was a finalist in the Royal College of Midwives national awards in 2021 for her dedication to staff well-being during a global pandemic, reflecting how much NHS Fife values its staff.
Women and families are at the center of everything we do. We are progressive, dynamic, and welcoming; all that’s missing is YOU.
You must be an experienced NMC Registered Midwife, educated to degree level. Enthusiasm, excellent teamwork, and effective communication skills are essential.
