The Oxford Airport site is Britain’s civil helicopter hub, offering expertise in helicopter sales, bespoke completions, maintenance, and spares support. Our in-house engineering capabilities include design, customization, installation, flight-testing, certification, technical support, maintenance, training, and spare supply for civil and military applications. We are the MoD’s chosen provider for helicopters and maintenance for the No.1 Helicopter Flying School at RAF Shawbury and RAF Valley.
Description / Overall Purpose of the Job
To enhance our support to customers and improve our services, we are developing a Training Academy to serve internal and external markets, diversifying revenue streams. The Academy aims to be the UK’s premier Airbus training center, renowned for developing highly skilled maintenance personnel and business professionals. It will meet internal training needs and expand externally, ensuring a steady talent pipeline and diversified service offerings.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a dedicated cost center and team, overseeing cost and revenue for Maintenance Training, both internal and external.
* Staff the instructor and mentor teams to achieve capacity goals for internal and external courses.
* Develop a roadmap to achieve P.147 training approval for all supported aircraft types (H135, H145, H160, H125, H130).
* Create a comprehensive training catalog of regulated and non-regulated courses.
* Establish an efficient training management system, including course scheduling and an external booking portal.
* Address shortages of physical training resources, such as aircraft components.
* Launch marketing campaigns to attract external clients.
* Implement apprentice and recruitment outreach, including mentoring programs.
* Oversee apprentice management and training governance using a Learning Management System.
* Align training needs and resources across Oxford, MFTS, Brunei, and Cyprus.
* Lead development, coaching, and personnel management within the team.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
* Proven success in project delivery.
* Leadership across multidisciplinary teams.
* Expertise in process structuring, planning, and project controls.
* Risk management and critical path control.
* Financial and contractual project management.
* Experience presenting project progress to senior management.
* Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship skills.
* Working knowledge of Part 145, Part 147, Part CAMO regulations, and non-regulated training needs.
Desirable
* Experience with Learning Management Systems and Training Management Systems.
* Knowledge of POLY POLY training approach.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience in aerospace project management, business improvement, or training environments.
* Aerospace training experience and knowledge of the UK market are desirable.
