Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and confident Student Support Officer to join a respected partner secondary school in Newport. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in students’ lives by supporting positive behaviour and wellbeing across the school community.
As part of the Inclusion Team, you’ll play a vital role in implementing the school's behaviour strategy, supporting students with challenging behaviour, and providing 1:1 guidance in a calm, structured environment.

✅ Key Responsibilities
* Work 1:1 with students removed from class due to behaviour concerns.
* Support students within the Student Support Centre, providing structure and guidance.
* Promote positive behaviour across the school, acting as a bridge between students and teaching staff.
* Maintain a calm and confidential working environment.
* Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to performance reviews and ongoing training.

Requirements and Experience
* Strong classroom behaviour management and conflict-resolution skills.
* Understanding of safeguarding practices and child protection.
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) or at least 6 months of relevant experience.
* Flexibility, discretion, and initiative essential.
* A passion for supporting young people and helping them succeed.

You’ll Need To Have:
* An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
* EWC (Education Workforce Council) registration – support provided if needed.
* Two professional references covering the last 24 months.
