Buro Happold is looking from a Principal or Associate level Electrical Engineer to join our award winning and dynamic Building Environments team in our Bath office. The role comes with an attractive salary and benefits package.
This role is suited to a candidate from a Buildings background looking for an opportunity to pursue industry leading designs within a vibrant multi-disciplinary practice. This role will see you leading MEP projects, along with inputting to, and assisting with leading the electrical team on projects in the Bath area and further afield, amongst which include residential buildings, research facilities, higher education buildings, mixed use developments, and refurbishments. We are ideally looking for a versatile candidate who wants to play an active role in technical delivery, project management, mentorship / line management, and business development.
You'll be collaborating with a wider UK MEP team of over Engineers and Technicians, and drawing upon the diverse skills and knowledge of other connected disciplines, including sustainability, building physics, fire engineering, facades, lighting, technology, and more. This role will give you a wide breadth of technical exposure and enable you to push boundaries the boundaries of sustainable design.

Your key duties
5. Contribute to leading the electrical team and take a project leadership role as required.
6. Communicating directly with Clients, offering innovative design solutions and managing expectations. Further developing relationships with existing and new clients including contractors, architects and developers.
7. Preparing technical and financial proposals for new work.
8. Managing workload of engineers and technicians
9. Preparing Technical Specifications.
10. Monitor financial performance of jobs as well as setting up and managing job/project administrative systems, including planning and monitoring job resourcing/expenditure.
Your skills and experience
11. Extensive electrical design experience in an MEP consultancy, with experience acting as project leader.
12. Diverse sector experience, ideally with large scale project experience.
13. Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, able to develop relationships with clients, architects and other team members.
14. Bachelors or master’s degree in engineering
15. Professionally registered with a relevant institution; CIBSE, IMechE, etc.
16. Although electrically biased it is expected that you will have a good understanding of other design disciplines.
17. A Bachelor’s degree BEng/BSc or Master’s degree MEng/MSc in a relevant discipline.
