Children and Young Persons Support Worker / Advocate Support children and young people affected by domestic abuse through trauma-informed casework and group interventions. This frontline safeguarding role involves risk assessment, support planning and multi-agency working across Sandwell and Dudley. If youve also worked in the following roles, wed also like to hear from you: Childrens Advocate, Young Peoples Support Worker, Young Persons Support Worker, Family Support Practitioner, Community Support Worker, Domestic Abuse Support Worker, Childrens Support Worker, Family Support Worker SALARY: £24,761 per annum Benefits LOCATION: Covering the Sandwell, Walsall and Dudley, West Midlands areas JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent WORKING HOURS: 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm JOB OVERVIEW We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Children and Young Persons Support Worker / Advocate working within a specialist community service supporting families affected by domestic abuse. As a Children and Young Persons Support Worker / Advocate you will deliver trauma-informed one-to-one casework and structured group work, including evidence-based programmes designed to build resilience, improve emotional wellbeing and promote healthy relationships. The Children and Young Persons Support Worker / Advocate will manage a caseload, complete risk assessments, develop support plans and work in partnership with education settings and multi-agency professionals to ensure coordinated safeguarding and positive outcomes. DUTIES Your duties as the Children and Young Persons Support Worker / Advocate include: Deliver One-to-One Support: Provide age-appropriate, child-led interventions to build resilience and emotional awareness Facilitate Group Programmes: Co-deliver structured group sessions exploring domestic abuse, safety planning and healthy coping strategies Case Management: Manage a caseload including risk assessment, needs assessment, support planning, outcomes tracking and case reviews Multi-Agency Working: Liaise with schools, safeguarding partners and specialist services to coordinate effective support Family Engagement: Support parents and children together to strengthen communication and relationships Safeguarding Practice: Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns in line with legislation and policy Report Writing: Maintain accurate case notes and prepare reports for meetings and case conferences Programme Assessment: Assess families for suitability for structured recovery programmes Professional Development: Attend supervision, training and contribute to service evaluation and improvement CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL Previous experience working with children and young people affected by trauma or domestic abuse Experience managing a caseload including risk assessment and support planning Proven experience of safeguarding children and responding appropriately to concerns Experience working within a multi-agency setting and building professional relationships Understanding of trauma-informed approaches and child development Ability to deliver both one-to-one interventions and group work programmes Strong communication skills with the ability to produce clear, accurate case records Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities GCSE English and Mathematics Grade C or above (or equivalent) Eligible to work in the UK DESIRABLE NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject Understanding of motivational interviewing and attachment theory Knowledge of Violence Against Women and Girls strategy and the gendered nature of abuse Experience supporting families with complex needs including mental health or substance misuse Full driving licence with access to a vehicle BENEFITS Mileage allowance Training and development opportunities Employee Assistance Programme Access to group clinical supervision 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays Wellbeing day Pension scheme with employer contribution Time off in lieu when required This role requires a DBS check APPLY TODAY By submitting your job application to us you are hereby giving us your express consent to submit your details to our Client for this purpose.
