Teaching Personnel are seeking a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a well-regarded secondary school in Portsmouth. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to gain valuable classroom experience or those considering a future career in teaching.
About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will provide general cover for classes of 11-16 year olds in the absence of the teacher, ensuring that students continue to engage with pre-prepared learning activities. The role involves maintaining a positive and orderly learning environment across a variety of subjects. There is also a small element of support for pupils with special educational needs (SEN).
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver and oversee pre-set lesson plans across different subjects for 11-16 year olds.
* Manage classroom behaviour effectively, following school policies.
* Keep students focused, engaged, and on task.
* Provide appropriate support to SEN pupils when required.
* Report back to teaching staff on student behaviour and progress.
Who We’re Looking For:
* Experience working with secondary school-aged pupils is desirable, including some SEN exposure.
* Ability to confidently manage a classroom and respond flexibly to different situations.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive rapport with students.
* Enthusiasm for supporting young learners and contributing to their educational journey.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
