Under the direct supervision of the designated Head Nurse, demonstrates proficiency in administering the fundamentals of the nursing process, contributes to the nursing assessment and the development of the nursing care plan, and participates in the evaluation of nursing care. Shares responsibility for individual patients or an entire patient population.

Essential Functions
* Patient assessment: Obtains and documents comprehensive nursing history, performs basic assessment, records vital signs, notes changes, and identifies abnormal data for reporting and care planning.
* Nursing Care Plan: Develops and reviews care plans, involving patients and families in planning and goal setting.
* Plan Implementation: Provides safe, therapeutic care, follows standards, communicates with patients and team, and incorporates discharge planning.
* Evaluation: Monitors patient responses, participates in care evaluations, and identifies system strengths and weaknesses.
* Leadership: Supports nursing standards, supervises staff, attends conferences, and participates in peer review.
* Education: Maintains professional growth through education, assists in teaching, and seeks guidance as needed.
Qualifications
* Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
* Minimum Work Experience: Six months recent experience as a professional nurse.
* Required Skills: Proficiency in at least 50% of Level II skills.
* Required Licenses: Active RN license in TN or a compact state, with intent to obtain TN license within 30 days.
* Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (current or obtained within 90 days of hire).
