We are looking for a Production Manager to work on a permanent basis for a large global manufacturing company based in St Helens.
The role is working Monday to Friday - 6am - 2pm and 2pm - 10pm (no nights).
Salary is c£40-42,000 per annum plus 25 days' holiday and bank holidays, company bonus, healthcare, pension etc.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage production teams, including supervisors, team leaders, and operatives, to ensure the achievement of production targets and KPIs.
* Plan, coordinate, and monitor workflow to meet customer demand, production schedules, and quality standards.
* Ensure a safe working environment by promoting and enforcing health & safety policies, best practices, and compliance requirements.
* Drive performance through effective communication, coaching, training, and development of team members.
* Monitor and analyse production data to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, quality, waste reduction, and throughput.
* Work closely with other departments such as Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, and Planning to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
* Lead problem‑solving activities and escalate issues promptly to minimise downtime and maintain customer service levels.
* Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance management activities within the production teams.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support lean manufacturing activities.
* Ensure adherence to company policies, manufacturing procedures, and regulatory standards.
Skills & Experience
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in a managerial or supervisory role within a manufacturing or production environment.
* Proven track record of leading multi‑disciplinary teams in a fast‑paced, high‑volume setting.
* Strong understanding of production processes, KPI management, workflow planning, and operational efficiency.
* Solid knowledge of health & safety regulations and safe working practices.
* Experience with continuous improvement tools (Lean, 5S, Kaizen) is highly desirable.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and people‑management skills.
* Confident decision‑maker with strong problem‑solving abilities.
* Ability to work under pressure, prioritise effectively, and adapt to changing production demands.
* Competent in using production systems and basic Microsoft Office applications.
