Required to start September 2024.
We are a Local Authority maintained school, ages 4-16, with a Pupil Referral Unit designation. We are a unique setting and a wonderful place to work and learn. This is a good school supported by a committed group of active Managers. We teach a wide variety of young people: some young people who are the highest attaining in the country, and some with the most profound and multiple learning difficulties. We teach some young people who are at the beginning of their school careers and, sadly, some who are near the end of their lives. We provide education across 2 hospital sites, an outreach centre as well as in young people’s homes across Devon, except for Torbay and Plymouth.
We are looking to appoint a highly qualified teacher with suitable skills and experience to lead our Maths provision. This will involve enhancing the school’s existing resources and developing our staff in this key subject area to provide an excellent education to our young people.
The post will be for a temporary 12-month period based primarily at our Outreach Centre in Exeter with possible travel to The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in Exeter and the North Devon District Hospital in Barnstaple.
You could be required to teach across the full primary and secondary age range (including children with SEN), and across all abilities. You will need to be flexible and resilient to work within a multi-disciplinary team approach and respond to variations from daily routines often with little notice. We are looking for the equivalent of one day a week, but there can be flexibility around days and hours worked.
The post holder will adhere to the professional duties of a teacher as set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions of Service document and school policies.
