Job Description:
The Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a secondary school setting. The role involves providing support to students to help them access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
Job Duties:
* Assist students with SEN in their learning activities, both in groups and on a one-to-one basis
* Support the classroom teacher in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) for students with SEN
* Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students
* Assist with personal care tasks for students with specific needs, as required
* Engage with parents and carers to provide updates on student progress and collaborate on support strategies
Required Qualifications:
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
* Relevant experience working with children or young people with SEN
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
* Previous experience in a similar role within an educational setting
* Knowledge of SEN strategies and interventions
* Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
* Ability to adapt and respond to the individual needs of students
Preferred Qualifications:
* Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent
* Additional training in specific areas of SEN support
Working Conditions:
* Work primarily during school hours, with some additional hours for planning and meetings
* Collaborate closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals
* Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
