Overview
As part of our continued support to our customer in the space sector, we are currently looking for a number of Welding Technicians to be based on site at our customer's facility. The contract role is inside IR35, with the rate negotiable based on experience and seniority.
As a Welding Technician you will be working within the Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT) group supporting the team with the manufacture and integration of satellite propulsion systems. Current processes are orbital welding, mechanical assembly, mechanical integration, harness manufacture and alignment operations. The main mission of this work package is to perform welding activities on spacecraft.
Responsibilities
* Welding of Titanium and Stainless steel pipe work for Propulsion Systems using an AMI 207A or Orbitec EVO200-WP Orbital Welder power supply and an AMI Model 9-500 Weld Head.
* Perform mechanical assembly and welding of Titanium and Stainless steel pipe work for Propulsion satellite builds.
* Mechanical parts assembled/prepared
* Bonding of components
* Welding activities performed in accordance with local documentation standards and engineering drawings and procedures
* In case of an anomaly or a deviation, observations are generated and escalated to local shift lead or quality individual
Qualifications
* HNC or HND in engineering/maintenance or Apprenticeship in Aerospace/Space or other high-quality production field
* Essential skills
o Working at height
o Trained in applicable H&S standards
o ISO 8 cleanroom disciplines
o Manual handling
o FOD/DIM awareness
* Desired skills
o Bonding brackets and Tie bases (M001a & A013C)
o wire thread installation (M041a)
o use of hand measuring tools (M129a)
o MLI installation (thermal blanket) (CAIT.08894)
o Set up and operation of AMI 207A or Orbitec EVO200-WP Orbital Welder to complete Titanium and Stainless steel pipe work for Propulsion Systems (M103a & M104a & M105a)
o Pipework cleanliness control (M056a)
o Repair of welding (overwelds)
