Job Title: Maintenance / Handyman (Live-In Accommodation Provided) Location: Caledonian Hotel, Ullapool Job Type: Full-Time Reports To: Duty Manager Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance / Handyman to join our team at our 3-star hotel. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of repair and maintenance tasks to ensure the hotel’s facilities are safe, functional, and well-presented for guests and staff. Key Responsibilities: Perform routine maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general repairs. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and hotel staff. Conduct regular inspections of hotel facilities and equipment to identify and resolve issues. Maintain the hotel’s exterior areas, including gardens, walkways, and parking areas. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Coordinate with external contractors when specialized repairs are needed. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and inventory of tools and supplies. Assist with setting up rooms or event spaces as needed. Provide emergency support for urgent maintenance issues outside of regular hours (on-call rotation may apply). Requirements: Proven experience as a handyman or in a maintenance role, preferably in a hospitality setting. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and general building maintenance. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects and work in various conditions. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as required. Relevant certifications (e.g., PAT testing, health & safety) are a plus.
