About the Company
We are partnering with a dynamic and fast-growing Managing General Agent (MGA) based in London who are looking for an Underwriter focused on delivering specialist underwriting solutions across the UK real estate market. Backed by strong capacity and an experienced leadership team, the business is in an exciting phase of growth and is looking to expand its underwriting capability.
The Role
As a Real Estate Underwriter, you will play a key role in underwriting a diverse portfolio of commercial property risks, working closely with brokers and internal stakeholders to drive profitable growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Underwrite new and renewal real estate risks in line with underwriting guidelines and authority levels
* Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, acting as a key point of contact
* Assess risk exposures, policy wordings, and pricing to ensure profitability
* Negotiate terms, conditions, and premiums with brokers
* Support the development and growth of the real estate portfolio
* Work closely with capacity providers and senior stakeholders where required
* Ensure compliance with internal processes and regulatory requirements
* Contribute to continuous improvement of underwriting strategy and product offering
* Actively look to grow the business portfolio
Experience Required
* Proven experience underwriting large real estate risks
* Strong understanding of the UK insurance market and broker landscape
* Excellent network of Broker relationships
* Experience working within an MGA or insurer environment
* Ability to make sound underwriting decisions with a commercial mindset
* Strong broker relationship management skills
* Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
