Overview
Chatham Grammar, part of the University of Kent Academies Trust, is seeking to appoint a dedicated and proactive Pastoral Manager to support the wellbeing, behaviour and personal development of our students. This is a key role within the academy's pastoral and inclusion team. The successful candidate will build strong relationships with students, support staff in maintaining positive learning environments, and work closely with the Assistant Principal and safeguarding team to ensure that students receive the guidance and support they need to succeed.
Responsibilities
* Support the implementation of the academy's Culture for Learning policy and maintain high expectations for behaviour and conduct.
* Mentor and coach students to develop positive behaviours that support learning and wellbeing.
* Monitor behaviour, attendance, safeguarding and wellbeing data to evaluate the impact of pastoral interventions.
* Maintain accurate records of incidents and interventions using academy data systems.
* Respond to behaviour incidents and support teaching staff in maintaining good order and discipline.
* Provide mediation and restorative approaches to resolve student conflict.
* Participate in pastoral supervision rotas and ensure student areas remain safe and orderly.
* Work closely with the Assistant Principal and Inclusion Team to review student progress and plan targeted support.
* Liaise with parents/carers and external agencies where appropriate to support student wellbeing.
* Act as a safeguarding key adult for identified students, recording concerns accurately and escalating in line with safeguarding procedures.
* Contribute to Early Help plans and multi-agency meetings where required.
Essential Requirements
* Good general education including 5 GCSEs (Grade 9-4 / A-C) including English, or equivalent.
* Experience working with young people to resolve pastoral or behavioural issues.
* Ability to use ICT and school information systems to track and report student data.
* Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in an educational setting.
Desirable
* Counselling or social skills qualifications (e.g. Anger Management, Mediation, Mindfulness).
* Experience working in a school environment.
* Experience contributing to safeguarding processes such as Early Help or multi-agency work.
* Qualified Teacher Status.
