Engagement and Enhanced Care Sister
Location: Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. Job reference number 372-CORP2051. Contract: Permanent. Salary: £39,959 to £48,117 per annum pro rata. Closing date: 18 May 2026.
Job Overview
Support the Enhanced Care team as a professional leader, working 8 am–6 pm on rota. Lead quality improvement projects and deliver training across the Trust in dementia strategy, Butterfly scheme, and John’s Campaign. Collaborate with clinical and community partners to optimise care for patients with dementia and delirium.
Main Responsibilities
* Provide professional leadership to Enhanced Care Support Workers.
* Lead and support quality improvement projects and policy delivery.
* Organise and deliver trust‑wide training aligned with national guidance.
* Conduct holistic clinical assessments and allocate ECSW for 1‑to‑1 care.
* Develop and maintain clinical, risk assessment and documentation processes.
* Act as patient and family advocate, ensuring safety, choice and well‑being.
* Mentor and precept staff, support career development and CPD.
* Collaborate with ward sisters, charge nurses, enrichment leads and community teams.
* Participate in regular supervision, meetings, mandatory training and appraisal.
* Support recruitment, selection and support of junior staff.
Qualifications and Training
* Diploma or degree in relevant field (NMC/HCPC registration required).
* Teaching/mentoring certificate or equivalent skills.
* Evidence of continuing professional development in specialist practice.
Knowledge, Experience & Expertise
* Substantial experience at Band 5 level.
* Post‑registration experience with people with dementia, delirium or cognitive impairment.
* Knowledge of national dementia strategies and local service provision.
* Up‑to‑date professional knowledge and effective patient/public involvement.
* Recent education in relevant field.

* Capable of meeting health requirements of the post.
* Eligible to work in the UK.
* Willing to work across the Calderdale and Huddersfield network.
