This twelve-month secondment provides an exciting opportunity to support the oculoplastic team and further your experience, skills, and knowledge. The oculoplastic specialist nurse role is multifaceted providing insight into several areas of nursing support and care. Patients with oculoplastic related issues sometimes have complex issues that require apathy, physical and mental health support, and input such as wound or peri-operative care.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and capable individual who will embrace the role and help to provide support for patient group during the secondment. In return the successful individual may have opportunities to expand their knowledge and skills within this area and gain an appreciation of the specialist nurse role.
Main duties of the job
The oculoplastic specialist nurse role involves elements of inpatient and ward input, outpatients, pre-assessment, and theatre care. Some oculoplastic patients require inpatient care on our ward and the specialist nurse will be expected to ensure that they supported along-side the ward nursing team. We presently have five oculoplastic consultants all of whom have theatres sessions and outpatient clinics, again the oculoplastic specialist nurse will be expected to be involved in these areas of care as well.
