Key Requirements of the role
* HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist.
* Specialist Portfolio or equivalent experience.
* MSc or equivalent qualification.
* Advanced experience of microbiology.
* Experience in training and supporting registration and specialist portfolios in medical microbiology.
* Knowledge of recognition and identification of bacteria and other micro-organisms.
* Flexibility in your approach as there is the requirement to work out of hours and weekends.
* Excellent communication skills together with excellent organisational skills are essential requirements for this post.

Main duties include
* Responsible for management of a technical section within the Department, directing the work of the other scientific and support staff in the day to day analytical provision of a high quality, cost effective service.
* Provides and coordinates specialist clinical technical services including research and audit.
* Developing the section in line with departmental objectives.
* To provide a lead role in the training and instruction of staff within their section.
