Your new role
As a Seniormunications Officer in the News & External Affairs team, you will be right at the heart of the action, crafting messages that matter, responding to media enquiries, and helping to tell stories that inform and inspire. You will be working across a wide range of topics, from promoting research to managing crisismunications. Whether it’s writing press releases, briefing journalists, or creating content for digital channels, you’ll be using your skills to makeplex information accessible and engaging.You will also be supporting internalmunications, advising colleagues on strategy, and helping to build strong relationships with stakeholders acrossernment, the third sector, and the wider public. It’s a varied, fast-paced role where no two days are the same, and where your ability to stay calm under pressure and think strategically will be key.
What you'll need to succeed You will bring solid experience in media relations, journalism, public relations or marketingmunications, along with a flair for writing and a sharp eye for detail. You’ll befortable handling sensitive and high-profile issues, and confident in your ability to turn technical information into clear,pelling messages. You will be someone who’s proactive, collaborative, and genuinely passionate about the power of goodmunication.
What you'll get in return
£ + holiday allowance. This position is offered on a full-time ( hours) temporary basis until the end of March 2026. Flexible / hybrid working options are available, but regular attendance in Cardiff will be required.
