Chef – Full time or Part time available – No evenings!
Location – Waterside Park Café, Hanningfield, Chelmsford
Salary – £27,976 to £28,800 depending on experience
Employment – Permanent or part time, with no evenings or split shifts
About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Chef to join our friendly team at Café on the Water, a beautiful location on the water, helping us deliver the “wow” factor to our daytime visitors all year round.
This role is ideal for chefs who value a healthy work–life balance, as all shifts are during the day. You will be expected to work some weekends with regular planned time off.
As Chef, you will support the Head Chef in delivering high-quality food preparation and service. You will play a key role in daily kitchen operations, menu development and maintaining excellent standards. Your responsibilities will include food preparation, maintaining cleanliness across the kitchen, managing stock levels and ensuring food hygiene and safety standards are consistently met.
You will also be part of an exciting time within the café, supporting with menu changes, working with fresh produce and contributing to regular seasonal menu updates.

About You
This role would suit a chef at any level looking to progress, or someone with experience in a similar environment who is ready to take the next step. You will bring a professional and motivated approach, along with creativity and a strong eye for detail in everything you do. Strong organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to work flexibly, including three weekends out of four and bank holidays. You will ideally hold an NVQ qualification in a relevant field such as food and beverage services or hospitality, alongside a Level 2 Food Safety qualification. A solid foundation in culinary skills and food product knowledge is important, including an understanding of nutritional standards, enabling you to consistently deliver high-quality dishes
