Job Title: Dedicated Mobility and Personal Care Support
Location: Hawarden near Chester
Salary: £20 per hour (£30,000 Gross Per Annum for a Full Time, Permanent employee)
Job Type: Full or Part Time available, Contract or Permanent, Mon - Fri
About the role:
We are looking for a physically fit, attentive, and patient carer to assist my husband, Chris (a retired solicitor), who now suffers with left side paralysis following a stroke and is now non weight bearing, with his daily mobility and personal care.
Chris enjoys historical documentaries on the television which he controls himself. He also enjoys watching rugby, sailing and motor racing.
This isn't just a job but about building a relationship and ensuring Chris maintains his dignity and independence at home as far as possible.
Please note that we are willing to offer this role on a Part or Full time basis and as a Contract or Permanent position. If a candidate is taken on as a full time permanent employee, you will be entitled to 22 days annual leave with Bank Holidays and a gross annual salary of £30,000 per annum.
Key Responsibilities:
* Personal Care: Helping with showering, dressing, and toileting. Myself or an agency carer also assist with morning routines, dressing and hygiene
* Safe Transfers: Assisting with transfers from bed to a wheelchair or shower chair using a hoist
* Movement Support: Encouraging and assisting with 15 minutes of daily physiotherapy exercises of his legs and neck to maintain muscle tone
* Lunchtime meal preparation, medication and washing and ironing Chris's clothes. There is other domestic help employed in our home
* Must love dogs
* Assisting in hoisting Chris from bed into his wheelchair to read newspaper in kitchen or to sit outside on the terrace
About you:
The ideal candidate will be calm, strong and reliable as well as possess the following skills & experience:
* Physical Capability: Ability to provide support (manual handling training is a huge plus)
* Equipment Knowledge: Experience with Hoists and Slide Sheets
* Observation: A keen eye for changes in physical ability or skin integrity
* Certifications: Manual Handling Certificate, DBS/Background check
* Experience: Previous care giving experience is a must
