Fixed Term Consultant in Neuroradiology

In the event that we are unable to appoint a candidate for the permanent role of Consultant in Neuroradiology (ref: 279-RSCHCONEURAD-584-A), this post will be offered as a fixed‑term appointment for 6 months initially with a view to extend for a further 6 months.

We are looking for an outstanding interventional neuroradiologist to join our team of 4 interventional and 6 diagnostic neuroradiologists, playing a pivotal role in the provision of a service to a population of 1.8 million. While the focus is interventional work, you will have a strong and integrated diagnostic component to your practice.

Main duties of the job
* Collaborate with a team of five Consultant Diagnostic Neuroradiologists and four Consultant Interventional Neuroradiologists.
* Serve a population of 1.6 million with tertiary level neuroradiology services.
* Contribute to comprehensive diagnostic neuroradiology services.
* Duties include reporting, prioritisation of imaging requests, clinical‑radiological meetings, and on‑call services.
* Active participation in the general diagnostic neuroradiology service (1:6 ratio).
* Engage in audit, teaching, research, MDT meetings.
* Welcome additional subspecialty interests.
* Join various MDTs and clinical meetings.
* Share on‑call commitment equally with existing consultants.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Completion of FRCR or equivalent at time of application and subspecialty training in Neuroradiology.
* Full GMC registration (or equivalent) and eligibility for a License to Practice.
* Dedicated interventional neuroradiology training.
* A patient‑centred approach, excellent clinical skills, and a passion for teaching and research.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Person Specification
Experience/Qualifications
* oFull GMC Registration with a licence to practice
* oCCT in Radiology or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
* oEntry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
* oHigher Degree
* oDistinctions, scholarships, prizes, other degress e.g. BSc, MSc, MS
Clinical Skills & Experience
* oNeuroradiology subspecialty training in Cross Sectional reporting
* oExperience of reporting complex neuroimaging
* oUnderstanding of clinical risk management
* oAn ability to communicate well with patients and staff
* oExperience in head & neck cross sectional reporting
* oExperience in advanced neuroimaging techniques and/or working in close collaboration with a tertiary neurosciences unit
Knowledge
* oBreadth of experience in and outside specialty
Organisation & Planning
* oExperience and ability to work in multi‑professional teams
* oUnderstanding of: NHS / Clinical governance / Resource constraints
* oEvidence of managerial skills: Achievements / Course attended
Teaching Skills
* oEvidence of an interest and commitment to teaching
