Overview
Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Ocean Wave Mechanics – Oxford. Department of Engineering Science, Parks Road, Oxford. The project is funded by EPSRC and NERC and is fixed-term for 8 months. The position is supervised by Professor Thomas Adcock and Professor Ton van den Bremer and focuses on water wave mechanics, with emphasis on the interaction of long and short gravity waves. The project will analyse experimental data from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and outputs from numerical modelling done in Oxford.
Responsibilities
* Perform data analysis of experimental wave data and numerical model outputs.
* Contribute to the interpretation of results and the dissemination of findings.
* Collaborate within the Environmental Fluid Mechanics group and manage aspects of the research project as appropriate.
Qualifications
* PhD/DPhil (or near completion) in engineering, oceanography or mathematics.
* Specialist knowledge of ocean wave mechanics or closely related area.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work well as part of a research team; ability to manage own research.
* Experience with fully nonlinear potential flow solvers (e.g., Oceanwave3D or HOS solvers) is desirable.
