About the role
Based in Manchester, this permanent full‑time role sits within our Corporate Services division and plays a key role in supporting the financial integrity, reporting and regulatory compliance of City Football Group. As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory requirements, and driving continuous improvement across finance processes. You will work closely with the Head of Group Accounting and a range of internal and external stakeholders to support statutory reporting, audit processes and regulatory submissions. You will take ownership of key reporting cycles, including month‑end, year‑end and audit, while also contributing to forecasting and budgeting activities. In addition, you will help strengthen financial controls, enhance processes, and support the organisation in navigating an increasingly complex regulatory environment, including UEFA, Premier League and emerging IFR requirements. This is a highly visible role offering both technical depth and the opportunity to influence decision‑making across the business.
Responsibilities
You will deliver accurate financial reporting, ensure compliance with evolving regulatory requirements, drive continuous improvement across finance processes, work closely with the Head of Group Accounting and stakeholders to support statutory reporting, audit processes and regulatory submissions, take ownership of key reporting cycles (month‑end, year‑end, audit), contribute to forecasting and budgeting activities, and strengthen financial controls and processes in a complex regulatory environment.
Qualifications
* Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with post‑qualification experience
* Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP and financial reporting standards
* Experience preparing statutory financial statements and technical accounting papers
* Proven experience coordinating external audits and managing audit deliverables
* Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and challenge
* Experience within sports, media or entertainment, or audit and knowledge of football financial regulations would be advantageous
