Stock Controller | Up to £36,000 base salary | Days only | Chichester
The Stock Controllerplays a key role in driving the success of our prep area operations. Responsible for leading, motivating, and developing the team, this role ensures that every aspect of stock control and raw material preparation runs seamlessly. By combining strong people leadership with expert knowledge of stock management, you’ll deliver safe, efficient, and profitable food manufacturing processes that align with production plans and meet customer expectations. From managing inventory accuracy and replenishment to overseeing material flow and compliance, you’ll be at the heart of ensuring operations are smooth, reliable, and of the highest standard.
Shift pattern
We operate a rotational shift pattern covering 7 to 7 covering days only. You will work a total of 14 days over a 28-day period. Typically, you would be working as follows:
Week 1 - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday
Week 2 - Wednesday & Thursday

Key responsibilities
6. Manage, coach and motivate the prep team, ensuring high performance and engagement
7. Identify training needs and support colleague development to build skills and flexibility
8. Promote a positive, safe and inclusive working environment
9. Conduct regular stock counts, cycle counts and audits to maintain full traceability and accountability
10. Control the ERP (AX) system to provide accurate, real-time data for stock visibility and job tracking
11. Monitor and investigate stock discrepancies, escalating financial or material risks to the site leadership in a timely manner
12. Ensure stock rotation on a FIFO (first in, first out) basis and compliance with food safety and H&S standards
13. Work closely with planning, technical and procurement teams to ensure stock meets production schedules and quality requirements
14. Oversee the mixing and preparation of raw materials to meet daily production plans
15. Identify risks to stock availability or plan attainment and provide timely solutions
16. Review and improve stock control processes, enhancing replenishment and minimising waste
17. Support site leadership with reporting and analysis on stock performance, cost control and efficiency
18. Actively contribute to operational improvement projects, audits, and customer requirements
Experience/skills required
19. Proven experience in stock control, inventory management or supply chain operations
20. Strong ERP (AX or similar) systems knowledge
21. Previous experience in food manufacturing or FMCG Production
22. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite or similar for reporting and analysis
23. Commercial awareness and understanding of cost implications of stock control
