Permanent, full time (37 hours) with flexibility for part time working

We are recruiting for a Lead Scientist (Pb)to join ourDrinking Water Scienceteam!

You willbe responsible fortheeffective delivery of the lead programme andensuring risks of lead in drinking water are mitigated ahead of time. Focusing on quality source to source, through a mixture of onsite work and using the vast data we have for our sites,you’llbe continually looking at getting theoptimumquality of wholesome water out to our customers, through our network and distribution assets.

You’llprovide scientific understanding and challenge our processes to safely distribute wholesome water.You’llimplement the required actions to any water quality deteriorationsso that understanding of the impact can be gained. Using the data and process information around you,you’lltake proactive interventions to mitigate riskand record this information toshowcasethe impact of your work.

This role will be part of an out of hours standbysupport for the business across the region.

Key responsibilities

1. Data collection, manipulation,analysisand interpretation of results

2. Analysis of the phosphate dosing plant performance

3. Monitor and analyse the enhanced lead sampling programme and review appropriateness

4. Provision of information to ensure Lead Strategy Team reporting requirements are delivered

5. Respond to exceedances of the lead standard andsubsequentcustomer correspondence

6. Support our operational call centre with customer queries from Lead Advice Line

7. Administration of customer queries, including documentation and record keeping, managing thedataand resolving queries

8. Lead the development ofshort and medium termstrategies to reduce lead risks to water quality and ensure these are delivered through local operational teams

9. Drive a culture of continuous improvement in Health & Safety, ensuring consistent H&S standards are maintained

What does it take to be successful?

20. Educated to a degree level in a relevant scientific subject ORequivalent experience OR equivalent qualification

21. Able to critically evaluate information to take tactical action

22. Excellent data interpretation skills

23. Build rapport with operational colleagues, whilst being able to communicate actionsrequired

24. Able to influence those around you in making positive decisions to protect wholesomeness of our water
