Established 30 years ago, our client is a small, family run business based on the Berkshire/Wiltshire border and is one of leading providers of premium landscaping. Renowned for delivering exceptional quality across diverse projects working closely with a variety of landscape architects, designers and landscapers.
For their wide range of high-end private gardens, they specialise in creating and nurturing beautiful, sustainable outdoor spaces. As the company grows, they are now looking for a skilled and motivated Landscape Gardener to join their talented team and contribute to the growing portfolio of outstanding projects, many involving returning to the same projects year on year to update/ extend.
This is a hands-on position with the aim of achieving visually stunning and ecologically sound landscapes. You will work collaboratively with a team of professionals and contribute to maintaining our high standards of craftsmanship. As a Landscape Gardener you will contribute to a variety of landscaping projects, with responsibilities tailored to your expertise and experience. This role offers the opportunity to work on both large-scale planting schemes and more detailed ornamental designs, ensuring diversity in your day-to-day work.
As part of this role, you will be responsible for a wide range of planting and landscaping tasks. This includes planting trees, shrubs, hedges, and hardy plants to develop robust and sustainable outdoor spaces. You’ll be preparing planting areas through soil cultivation, mulching, and fertilisation, as well as establishing high-quality lawns from previously sub-standard areas, including sites affected by building works. Additionally, you’ll be involved in the creation and preparation of wildflower meadows and will be expected to accurately interpret planting plans to bring detailed landscape designs to life. A daily record of site work will also need to be maintained.
General responsibilities include working closely to design specifications with a strong emphasis on detail and quality. You’ll need to operate both hand tools and machinery safely and efficiently, ensuring that work meets agreed timelines and project objectives. Maintaining a clean, organised work environment and complying with all health and safety regulations will be key to the smooth running of each project.
To succeed in this role, you should bring prior experience in the landscaping industry and the ability to read and follow planting plans and specifications. Strong communication skills are essential, as you’ll be collaborating with both team members and clients. A keen eye for detail and design, physical fitness, and a readiness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions are crucial. Proficiency in using landscaping tools and machinery is beneficial, though training can be provided. A full UK driving license is required, and experience with project costing and tracking variances to original estimates is a valuable asset.
