Progression Coach, 26 hours per week, Term Time Only, Temporary to 30 June 2026
To work with students at the point of recruitment and during their time at College. Working closely with key curriculum areas, you will equip students with the skills and attributes necessary for success and progression. You will report to the Curriculum Manager and liaise with the Student Liaison Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist students in reflecting on their skills and experiences, encouraging the development of new skills.
2. Support students in time management, balancing personal responsibilities and studies.
3. Set and review individual learning plans with achievable targets and action steps.
4. Provide study skills support, resources, and promote positive dispositions such as positivity, activity, inquisitiveness, critical thinking, and persistence.
5. Identify and refer support needs, liaising with college staff and external agencies as appropriate.
6. Participate in meetings with parents/guardians and external providers when necessary.
7. Contribute to disciplinary procedures, conduct meetings, and develop action plans collaboratively.
8. Work with curriculum areas to enhance success, retention, and achievement.
9. Promote excellent attendance, punctuality, and conduct; monitor and record these metrics.
10. Support induction and assess personal needs at course start, making referrals as needed.
11. Use diagnostic assessments to inform tutorials and target setting.
12. Develop study skills through workshops and regular 1-1 tutorials, maintaining records of progress.
13. Assist in preparing references for employment or UCAS applications, ensuring confidentiality.
14. Maintain student records, including ILPs, especially during course or tutor changes.
15. Plan and deliver a tutorial program aligned with students’ needs and principles of Equality and Diversity.
16. Coordinate with college departments to tailor tutorial content, including inviting guest speakers.
17. Prepare students for their next steps, whether in further education, university, or employment.
