How You'll Make a Difference
The HR Casework and Change team enables the council to meet its people management responsibilities by delivering consistent and practical HR advice. Jointly leading the team, you will set high professional standards through a strong focus on service delivery and working with line managers to develop their people management capability.
What You Will Be Doing
* As the subject matter expert, you will provide advice and guidance to team members and departmental managers on the best application of HR policy, compliance and legislation.
* You will be managing a team of HR professionals, ensuring alignment to the HR People Strategy.
* With a focus on team support, you will ensure effective delivery capacity, work allocation and meeting priorities to enable people management issues to be resolved efficiently.
* You will be expected to have your own case load of complex cases and more challenging strategic project work.
* Using your experience and knowledge, you will be an expert in solving problems to be able to deliver solutions which work for our customers, are legally compliant and promote a fair and equitable workplace.
What We Need From You
* Proven, contemporary HR delivery experience and sound technical expertise in employee relations legislation, casework practice and change management principles, ideally gained within a complex operating environment.
* Professional qualification, ideally to CIPD Chartered Membership (intermediate level) or an equivalent level of experience.
* Leadership and people management skills within the specialised HR area of casework and change.
* Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with strong analytical and problem solving abilities to enable you to influence and challenge decision makers and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Demonstrable experience of project management principles to deliver HR business solutions or pieces of work which require research, development and evaluation.

* This role is being offered as a limited term contract for up to 12 months from June 2026.
