Job Description
RESEARCHER, BBC TV PROMS 2026
Livewire Pictures, part of the Hat Trick Group, is the production company responsible for televising the BBC Proms, the world’s largest and most diverse music festival. Each season features many of the world’s greatest artists and orchestras over two months of concerts, with a wide-ranging programme that includes African, Asian, Latin‑American, contemporary and western classical music.
Some shows will be live, others pre‑recorded and edited, but all feature a main presenter with guest interviews, VT packaged material and live music coverage. We are looking for researchers to join our team for the BBC Proms 2026 season.
On the day of the Proms researchers ensure that presenters have all the facts they need at their fingertips, keeping everyone in the right place at the right time. A passion for bringing music alive on television is essential for this role.
As the TV researchers, you will be the editorial engine room of our operation, reporting to the assistant producer and producers. You will play a key role in generating ideas for programmes, and supporting the team in securing all required research materials – including research briefs, finding and booking guests, and coordinating on‑screen talent.
Essential Requirements: Good knowledge of classical music and the classical music scene; excellent writing and English skills; strong attention to detail; ability to remain calm under pressure. Experience sourcing and clearing archives, especially a knowledge of BBC Archives, would be highly beneficial (but if not, keenness and a quick learning ability will be sufficient).
Dates: Applicants must be available from the beginning of June to September 2026.
Location: Full‑time role based at our central London office.
