Experienced Turner required Attributes Experience in tool making and the use of centre lathes for turning Patience and precision Pay attention to detail The ability to read technical drawings The successful candidate will be able to bring the workpiece to the desired shape and dimensions in accordance with the specifications outlined in technical drawings. To set up chucks and tool bits, rough out the workpiece adjusting the rotation speed as required and selecting the appropriate cutting tools. Perform finishing operations and quality control checks using both manual and digital measuring equipment and ensure that the finished piece meets the relevant tolerance specifications. You will be responsible for keeping your machine and the work area clean and tidy and performing minor maintenance operations on the lathe. Self motivated individual required to run manual machining centre making steel bodies for diamond tooling. Products include tools for oil & gas, aerospace and automotive industries. Skills and responsibilities to include:- · Setting and operating manual centre lathe, milling machine, cylindrical and internal grinder · Use of inspection resources – internal/external micrometer, digital vernier, plug gauges, shadowgraph etc. · Reading and interpreting engineering drawings. · Ordering and maintaining stocks of raw materials and tooling. · Maintaining and updating production records. · Assist with apprenticeship training. The successful candidate must be able to work without supervision and have the ability to organise work schedules to meet delivery deadlines.
