We're offering an exciting opportunity to join the West Thames Valley Water Production team as a Technical Coordinator, primarily based in the Oxford area, with flexibility to support nearby regions when needed. In this vital role, you'll apply your technical expertise to support the Production Manager in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient 24/7 operation of water treatment works, reservoirs, and booster stations—delivering consistent, high-quality water to our customers.
What you will be doing as a Technical Coordinator
1. You will be responsible for managing the pre-requisites within SAP (materials, permits, resources, and services) for all complex jobs related to planned and reactive work across maintenance and operations.
2. Use technical expertise and data from the field to design operationally critical jobs.
3. Highlight key operational risks across the area and present these to obtain funding.
4. Maintain the availability of plant and equipment and optimize treatment process performance.
5. Develop strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
6. Provide expert advice on technical issues and generate solutions to operational risks.
7. Obtain quotes, order materials, and third-party services through framework contractors.
8. Ensure all Health and Safety aspects are managed correctly, including safe work system approval, reviewing RAMS, permitting, and site audits.
9. Ensure compliance with legal statutory maintenance requirements such as lifting equipment, pressure vessels, and generators.
Requirements:
* Solid technical understanding of water production or wastewater operations.
* IOSH certification (or equivalent) and experience managing contractors.
* Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, improvement-focused mindset.
* Working knowledge of project delivery and business processes.
* Familiarity with SAP and Microsoft Office software.
* Ability to influence beyond direct management and liaise confidently at all levels.
* A full UK driving license, as the role involves travel between sites.
