Job Description:
We are currently seeking a hardworking and reliable Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team at The Middlewick. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will support the kitchen staff in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. Your role will be essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our food service, contributing to the preparation and delivery of high-quality meals.
Responsibilities:
* Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and storing.
* Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of waste.
* Ensure all kitchen equipment and utensils are cleaned and stored properly.
* Support chefs in food preparation and cooking as needed, following hygiene and safety standards.
* Receive and store deliveries, ensuring stock is rotated and stored correctly.
* Help with basic food assembly and plating during service times.
* Monitor stock levels and report shortages or issues to the Head Chef.
* Adhere to health and safety regulations and maintain high standards of food hygiene.
* Clean kitchen appliances, such as ovens, grills, and stoves, to ensure they are in good working condition.
* Empty and clean bins, disposing of kitchen waste in accordance with regulations.
* Assist with any other duties as required by the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations.
Requirements:
* Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation role is preferred but not essential.
* Knowledge of basic food hygiene and kitchen safety practices.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
* Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
* Positive attitude, reliability, and a willingness to learn and take on new tasks.
