Role Overview
As a Health and Wellbeing Practitioner, you will deliver personalised 1:1 sessions and occasionally lead group activities with young people in residential care and mental health settings. You will work closely with clients to support their emotional, physical, social, and intellectual wellbeing through a creative and holistic approach.
You will follow our tailored wellbeing curriculum, which incorporates creative expression (music, art, movement) and practical skills to help young people manage mental health challenges, develop resilience, and avoid harmful behaviors.
Responsibilities
Deliver 1:1 wellbeing sessions(50 minutes each) to up to 6 young people per week, including session planning, facilitation, and follow-up reports (10 minutes per session).
Lead group sessions with young people and staff when needed, fostering a safe, supportive environment.
Follow the wellbeing curriculum, tailored to individual client needs, focusing on emotional, intellectual, social, and physical wellbeing.
Use creative expression techniques such as music, art, movement, and other outlets to facilitate learning and emotional release.
Empower young people with practical coping skills, tools, and knowledge to manage mental health, emotional regulation, and life challenges.
Support staff by providing insights and strategies to promote a trauma-informed approach.
Maintain accurate session reports and progress notes, ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
Uphold safeguarding policies and create a secure, nurturing space for all clients.
Requirements
Driving license and access to your own vehicle.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain).
Experience working with young people in mental health, residential care, or similar settings (preferred).
Lived experience or understanding of mental health challenges is desirable.
Passionate about holistic health, creative expression, and trauma-informed approaches.
Ability to work independently, be reliable, and committed to client wellbeing.
Strong boundaries, professionalism, and empathy.
Commitment to your own wellbeing—self-care is essential.
Additional Information
This is a self-employed/subcontractor role.
Weekly commitment of 6 hours, with flexible scheduling.
Sessions are 50 minutes with 10 minutes allocated for report writing.
Ongoing professional development, supervision (monthly with a clinical psychotherapist), and team wellbeing days are provided.
We prioritise staff wellbeing and provide continuous support and training.
