Job Title: Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer
Location: Coventry – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.
Salary: £45,000 depending on experience.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Develop a functional design for the Vehicle Control solution for SSNA.
2. Work with a complex relationship of stakeholders to provide oversight in the delivery of the vehicle control solution, and the supporting vehicle control strategy.
3. Collaborate with the engineering manager in the delivery of the vehicle control system, reporting suitable progress through agile toolsets.
4. Deliver responses to the engineering delivery plan, ensuring that the plan is delivered on schedule.
5. Work with the Engineering Delivery Team with varying levels of SQEP to develop technical solutions, developing team members and nurturing their development.
6. Engage with legacy stakeholders in developing a technical solution from a known baseline design.
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
* Experience in developing a C&I design for large-scale C&I systems, ensuring compliance with functional, defence, industrial standards, etc.
* Experience managing non-functional requirements (e.g., EMC, shock) meeting industrial compliance.
* Proficiency in authoring and reviewing design documents such as I/O schedules, functional design specifications, functional chronicles, interface control documents, etc.
Desirable:
* Degree or equivalent experience in relevant STEM subjects (Engineering, Physics, Maths, Science).
* Understanding of control system architecture and communication protocols (e.g., RS-485, PROFIBUS).
* Experience with IEC 61508 – Functional Safety or similar, including producing supporting evidence for safety claims.
* Experience with manoeuvring systems across various industries.
