Band 6 Corporate Nurse for Quality and Clinical Assurance

We are looking for an experienced registered nurse with a strong clinical background and a keen interest in training, quality and continence management.

This is an exciting opportunity and a newly created post within Corporate Nursing Team. This full-time post whilst sitting within the Quality and assurance team will focus on continence care and getting it right for our patients.

The post holder will work across sites to develop and embed good practice, provide support to clinical teams, develop relationships with community continence services and procurement.

We are looking for an experienced individual who has had recent acute clinical experience.

The post holder must be enthusiastic, motivated, have excellent communication skills to, influence change and embed practice in continence management. You will have a genuine interest in quality improvement, developing teams, and a desire to develop teaching skills and work alongside the clinical teams. The post holder must be self-motivated, have the ability to work unsupervised, have excellent organisational skills a strong team work ethic and evidence of continuous professional development.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will act as a professional role model delivering a continence programme of care across the organisation.

The post holder will work across site and clinical teams with work base at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital.

The post holder will use their knowledge, skills and experience to plan, organise and deliver training associated with continence management

Audit compliance and assurance framework.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* * NMC Registered Nurse
* * Evidence of post registration CPD/ post registration qualification in an appropriate area / speciality or professional knowledge supplemented by specialists experience / short courses to degree level or equivalent


Experience

* * Relevant and recent clinical experience within a complex health care setting/ acute NHS setting with experience in the supervision and education of junior staff/ students
* * Recent experience in working in and with multidisciplinary teams/ cross agency setting within a complex health care setting
* * Evidence of supporting practice/change management
* * Experience in learning from incidents /complaints and supporting changes in practice
* * Experienced in supporting the development and delivering education / training of junior staff / others
* * Experience of clinical audit / monitoring of standards / practice / benchmarking
* * A knowledgeable clinician with ability to ensure clinical governance is embedded in practice
* * Sound understanding of evidence based practice and its application
* * Knowledge of corporate and clinical governance
* * Knowledge of professional priorities and issues relating to NHS care provision


Additional Criteria

* * Ability to communicate with a wide range of health care professionals, on a variety of complex and sensitive issues which require the use of persuasion / diplomacy
* * Ability to work autonomously, manage / prioritise own workload across competing priorities
* * Ability to work under pressure across competing priorities
* * Competent in a range of clinical skills and expanded practices relevant to the scope of practice required
* * Ability to undertake clinical audit and interpret information to enable the production of a report and recommendations
* * Proficient IT skills able to produce reports / tables and format documents
* * Able to effectively present information to groups /health care professionals.
* * Ability to challenge / address / highlight areas of practice concern in a proactive / reactive manner through appropriate channels
* * Ability to work well and respond to changing timescales / deadlines
* * Ability to adapt behaviour to changing circumstances
* * Ability to communicate articulately and motivate others using a variety of media
* * Reliable, punctual, well organised with a professional attitude
* * Willingness to work core shift patterns for the area Monday to Friday with occasional out of hours /weekend working
* * Ability to travel across UHB sites and off site to attend meetings/ undertake role
