Job Description:
Stevenage – Education and Training – Nursery Teaching Assistant
Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 4:30.
All education and training provided. You will work with children aged 2-19 years old with a Nursery to KS1 level of cognitive ability. If you have a caring nature and want to be part of a vibrant, empathetic team and school, this role could appeal to you.
We are seeking a graduate or non-graduate with good instincts for Nursery and early years aged children. This LSA role involves working within personal care with students from diverse backgrounds and cultures. An interest in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy is an advantage but not essential.
This role is based in a specialist school for children aged 7-19 with Autism, Complex Social Needs, and varying academic abilities. Some children have severe learning challenges and physical disabilities.
Can you make a positive difference in the students' lives, keep them safe, and demonstrate the value of education? You will receive SEN and safeguarding training, including MAPA training.
Key responsibilities include:
* Physical work combined with pragmatic approaches to maximize each child's academic progress.
* Introducing therapies and holistic processes, celebrating small progress.
* Supporting children with Pathological Demand Avoidance and Pervasive Developmental Disorder.
* Focusing on Early Years and Non-Verbal students using holistic techniques to gain engagement.
* Providing positive engagement to foster acceptance; employing different approaches when talking therapy is ineffective.
It is essential to be sincere about your objectives and understand why you want to work in the SEN and mental health sector. Your goal is to provide the best possible foundation for vulnerable students who have experienced trauma and been let down by adults. Building trust and progress takes time and patience.
