This is a standout opportunity for an experienced Energy Manager to take ownership of a large, multi-site estate and play a pivotal role in delivering an ambitious Net Zero by strategy.
You’ll combine technical expertise, commercial awareness, and strategic influence to drive measurable reductions in energy use, carbon emissions, and cost – while shaping long-term sustainability outcomes.

What you’ll be doing
6. Leading energy and carbon strategy delivery, driving progress towards Net Zero
7. Managing energy and utilities contracts, budgets, and performance
8. Using data and BMS systems to identify inefficiencies and optimise consumption
9. Delivering and project managing energy reduction and decarbonisation initiatives
10. Embedding low-carbon design and energy standards into new builds and refurbishments
11. Advising on energy procurement, tariffs, and alternative energy solutions (e.g. PPAs, self-generation)
12. Engaging stakeholders across estates, finance, and leadership to drive behavioural and operational change
What we’re looking for
You’ll likely come from the Higher Education, Utilities, or large complex estates sector, with:
13. Proven experience in energy and carbon management at scale
14. Strong technical knowledge of BMS, metering, utilities, and energy systems
15. Expertise in energy legislation, compliance, and reporting
16. Experience managing utilities budgets, contracts, and suppliers
17. A track record of delivering carbon reduction and energy efficiency projects
18. Confidence influencing stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership
A degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Energy, Building Services, Environmental Management) is expected.
Working pattern
This is a highly operational and stakeholder-facing role, requiring you to be onsite a minimum of 3 days per week across the estate.
