We are delighted to invite applications for an 8PA substantive consultant paediatric post in our community paediatric service. The successful applicant will ideally have a specific interest in Autism Assessment and be able to lead this arm of the service.The successful candidate will join a highly motivated, consultant and SAS led team delivering high quality paediatric care to Tower Hamlets & East London.
The community paediatric team are based at Mile End Hospital in Mile End with some outreach clinics in local special schools. The team serve the local population of 69,000 children with in excess of 8000 having SEND or additional needs.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join a highly motivated, consultant and SAS led team delivering high quality paediatric care to Tower Hamlets & East London.
The community paediatric team are based at Mile End Hospital in Mile End with some outreach clinics in local special schools. The team serve the local population of 69,000 children with in excess of 8000 having SEND or additional needs.
The community paediatric department is welcoming and friendly. Our multidisciplinary clinical team includes nurses, play specialists, clinical practitioners, clinical nurse specialists and allied health professionals working alongside doctors in training, clinical fellows, associate specialists & consultants. All of our team are dedicated to the highest standards in clinical care and patient safety.
The community paediatric duties of the posts may include: participation in the community paediatric clinic services including Child Protection (CP) Medical clinics, Neuro-Developmental Clinics (NDC), Autistic Spectrum Disorder Assessment Service (ASDAS) clinics, Special Educational Needs (SEN) clinics, Looked After Children (LAC) clinics & Special School clinics. The post holder will be expected to participate in the CP medical clinic rota.
Candidates must hold full registration with the GMC with a licence to practice.Candidates must be on the GMC specialist register or be within six months of successful completion of UK paediatric training at the time of interview.

Person Specification
Qualifications and knowledge
* oFull GMC registration
* oMRCPCH or equivalent
* oOn GMC Specialist Register OR within 6 months of CCT or CESR-CP* in Community Paediatrics or Paediatrics capable to work at consultant level in community child health at time of interview
* oValid Level 3 Children's safeguarding
* oValid APLS /EPALS, Valid BLS
* oValid APLS /EPALS
Experience
* oBroad range of clinical experience in Community Child health, Neurodisability or including experience in the management of children with disabilities
* oExperience in working with children with disability
* oChild Protection Medical experience during level 3 (or higher) training.
Skills and knowledge
* oAbility to work unsupervised and make decisions
* oExperience of dealing with governance and risk
* oExperience in Medical Management roles
* oDemonstrated ability to manage time effectively, prioritise administrative tasks and work co-operatively with administrative staff
* oAccreditation in standardised developmental assessment tool e.g. SOGS II, Griffiths
* oFormal autism assessment course e.g. ADOS, 3Di
