Job Description:
The Assistant Director will play a key leadership role in advancing the mission of the Center for Educational Innovation & Opportunity to foster creativity, collaboration, and innovation in education. This position oversees the operations, programming, and development of the Center's Innovation Lab, which is a Makerspace hub for hands-on, technology-rich, and interdisciplinary learning experiences. The Assistant Director will also lead special projects, build interdisciplinary collaborations, and support programs that engage K-12 students, educators, and the broader community. Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Educational Leadership, STEM Education, MLIS, Public Administration, Higher Education Administration, Instructional Design, or closely related field.
1. Considerable knowledge of STEM education, makerspace design, and experiential learning methodologies.
2. Familiarity with university procurement, financial management policies, and grant-funded program administration; demonstrated success in securing and managing grants, leading special projects, and overseeing program implementation.
3. Ability to develop and implement innovative, interdisciplinary educational programs that integrate emerging technologies.
4. Considerable skills in budget management, resource allocation, and operational oversight for a STEM-focused innovation lab.
5. Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, proposals, and strategic plans.
6. Ability to facilitate professional development workshops for educators in emerging technologies and innovation-driven instructional practices.
7. Proficiency in electronic productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Google Suite, and digital learning platforms.
8. Considerable experience in building and sustaining collaborative partnerships with schools, industry, and community organizations; some knowledge of K-12 and higher education partnerships, including lab school models, university-assisted schools, and workforce development programs.
9. Some experience in data-driven decision-making, program evaluation, and impact assessment.
10. Some experience supervising interns, staff, or program coordinators in an educational or nonprofit setting.
