We’re working with a brilliant specialist school in Durham who are looking for a 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to support a pupil who needs calm, consistent and compassionate care throughout the school day. This isn’t about ticking boxes, it’s about being that steady presence who helps a child feel safe, understood and ready to learn.
What your day will look like:
1. Providing 1:1 support tailored to a pupil’s individual needs
2. Helping the pupil engage with learning, routines and transitions
3. Using a calm, trauma-aware approach to build trust and confidence
4. Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and therapists
5. Celebrating the small wins, because they really do add up
This role could be perfect if you:
6. Have experience supporting children or young people with SEN, or a strong desire to move into this space
7. Are calm under pressure and confident with consistency and structure
8. Communicate with empathy and patience
9. Understand that behaviour is communication
10. Want to feel genuinely valued for the support you give
