About Northbrook Ward
Located on the Winchester site, Northbrook Ward is an 18-bedded unit providing care for children requiring emergency admission from the Emergency Department (ED), Sophie’s Place (SP), or GPs. Children may also be booked for treatment with Oncology, Orthopaedic, General Surgical, or Medical problems.
Role Responsibilities
1. Work closely with nursing, medical, and other staff, as well as outside agencies, to maintain and develop an effective administrative, clerical, and secretarial service for inpatient wards and outpatient units.
2. Update the admission trolley daily.
3. Input information into IT systems used within Child Health Service, including admission, transfer, discharge, and coding systems, ensuring accuracy and currency.
4. Register patients and record encounter/episode and outcomes on the Trust’s patient administration system.
5. Maintain and improve ward administrative processes and systems.
6. Greet and check particulars of new patients, ensure notes and paperwork are in order, and prepare necessary documentation for emergency patients.
7. Ensure the security of the unit doors at all times to safeguard children and young people.
8. Provide frontline information, advice, and guidance to patients, visitors, and external agencies.
