Job summary
Thisis a 6-month Medical Oncology Locum Consultant post with special interests inLung and Gynaecological cancers, delivering systemic anti-cancer therapies,with the possibility to extend further. The post will support two establishedand experienced non-surgical oncology teams and will be based at the LeedsCancer Centre, St Jamess University Hospital.
Therewill be opportunities to contribute to the MDT and departmental meetings, aswell as teaching and service developments. This is an exciting time to join ourLung and Gynaecology Services, as we are currently looking at pathway redesign,alongside developing the services and the teams.
Main duties of the job
MAINDUTIES OF THE POST
Attendanceat lung and gynaecology clinics
Attendanceat MDT meetings
Participatein ward rounds and the on-call rota
Prescriptionof systemic and hormone therapy.
Discussionwith patients and their relatives
Initiation/ change of treatments
Managepatients receiving treatment for lung and gynaecological cancer
Attendanceat service and departmental meetings.
Workclosely with clinical colleagues and support the wider lung and gynae teamswith clinical activity. Provide mutual cross-cover colleagues where necessary.

This post will deliver approximately 4 PAs supporting the Gynaecology team (Dr Hall, Dr Jackson and Dr Young), and 4 PAs supporting the Lung team (Dr Bhatnagar, Dr Franks, Dr Clarke, Dr Teo, Dr Dickinson, and Dr Sun). The remaining PAs will cover SPA and on call activities. There will be opportunities to contribute to MDT and departmental meetings. The post-holder will support a 1:14 on-call rota.

The successful applicant should hold accreditation in Medical Oncology in the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent, and should be on the Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees if currently in a training programme within the UK, or have references which have been authorised by the Deputy Medical Director and Clinical Director.
Applicants should have established skills in medical oncology. Excellent communication and team working skills, a strong commitment to teaching and service development are essential.
